Philanthropy

What is "Philanthropy?"

The term "philanthropy" literally means "love of humankind." At Laurel Mountain, we define "philanthropy" at its most basic level as the giving and sharing of time, talent and treasure for the common good. Philanthropy, however, can mean so much more. Laurel Mountain's emphasis on philanthropic education and service learning is meant to inspire our students to participate in philanthropic projects such as community service, grant writing and volunteering. We hope to create future community leaders by providing exposure to philanthropic opportunities and guiding students in their quest to discover what they truly care about.

Laurel Mountain uses service learning to develop social responsibility and compassion in young children so that they might develop a life-long commitment to service.
